About
Vincent Cirrincione
Vincent Cirrincione is a self-made entertainment manager and producer whose career spans more than five decades in music, film, television and theater. He is known for standing behind the spotlight, guiding artists, shaping careers, and helping evocative stories reach the screen and stage. Throughout his professional life, Cirrincione has been driven by a single belief: that talent flourishes best when it is developed, respected and given time to thrive.
His career defies easy categorization. He has been a music manager, a record executive, a talent manager, a producer and a mentor. What unites these roles is his instinct for recognizing potential and his commitment to letting artists shine on their own terms.
Brooklyn Roots and Early Drive
Born on May 31, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, Vincent Cirrincione was raised in Marine Park by his Italian grandparents. He grew up in a working–class environment where resourcefulness was a necessity and perseverance was learned early.
As a child, he worked in his grandparents’ grocery store, observing people, learning how to communicate, and understanding the value of relationships. During the holidays, he sold Christmas trees, always finding a way to present the best side to customers, a small but telling sign of the instincts that would later define his career.
He attended St. Agnes Boys High School in Manhattan, commuting daily by subway and bus. Living in Brooklyn during a period of cultural and political transformation, Cirrincione was deeply aware of the changing world around him. He vividly recalls moments like hearing the crowds cheer for President John F. Kennedy during a United Nations visit in 1963, experiences that fueled his desire to be part of something larger and to make a meaningful impact.
Finding His Path Through Music
Cirrincione’s first true entry into the entertainment industry came through music. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, he found himself immersed in the vibrant New York music scene at a time when new sounds and genres were being born. While promoting avant-garde artist Captain Beefheart, he crossed paths with guitarist Larry Coryell, who was in the midst of transforming jazz by embracing electric instrumentation. Coryell would later be recognized as the godfather of jazz fusion.
Cirrincione became Coryell’s manager and soon established himself as a creative and business partner. He executive-produced multiple albums for Coryell and The Eleventh House, contributing to recordings that became foundational works within the fusion movement. Operating largely on instinct and determination, he worked from borrowed offices, made cold calls, and negotiated deals without the safety net of industry privilege. His advocacy for Coryell culminated in a landmark New York Supreme Court victory that successfully challenged a restrictive record contract clause, allowing the artist to move forward freely.
From Music to Talent Management
The same qualities that defined Cirrincione’s work in music soon led him toward talent management. His transition was organic. While working with young performers and touring productions, he became known as someone who stood up for artists, particularly when they were overlooked or undervalued, qualities which have defined Cirrincione’s career, and continue to this day. It was during this period that he realized his true calling was not performance, but leadership.
Cirrincione approaches talent management as mentorship. He believes that building a career requires patience, discipline, and thoughtful decision–making. Rather than chasing quick fame, he encourages his clients to focus on craft, training, and roles that demonstrate depth and range. He works for his clients with a dynamic, tireless energy and is a shrewd negotiator on their behalf. He is especially known for advocating for artists of color and pushing for inclusion long before it became an industry priority.
Building a Bi-Coastal Presence
As his management career grew, Cirrincione expanded his reach. In the early 1990s, he opened a Los Angeles office while maintaining his New York base, allowing him to operate across both coasts.
Producing Stories That Matter
As a producer, Cirrincione has gravitated toward character–driven stories that emphasize emotional truth and strong performances. Among his most significant projects are Introducing Dorothy Dandridge and Lackawanna Blues, both produced for HBO and both earning him Emmy nominations as producer.
Philosophy, Loyalty, and Legacy
Throughout his career, Vincent Cirrincione has been defined by loyalty. Many of his professional relationships have lasted decades, a rarity in an industry known for constant change. His legacy is reflected in the careers he has helped build and the stories he has helped bring to life.
